Staying safe with Red Rock Tech Help
Fake “tech support” is one of the most common scams out there. Here is exactly how Red Rock Tech Help works, so you can always tell the real thing from an imposter.
What I will never do
- Call, text, or email you first about a problem with your computer. Every conversation starts with a ticket you send.
- Ask for your passwords, PINs, two-factor codes, or bank and card details.
- Ask for payment of any kind, especially gift cards, crypto, or wire transfers. The service is free.
- Connect to your computer without your permission, or keep a connection open after you ask me to stop.
- Log into your bank, email, or other accounts for you.
How remote sessions work
- I suggest a session on your ticket page. Nothing happens until you agree to it there.
- You open the app yourself (see remote help) and share the one-time code through your ticket page.
- You can watch everything I do, and you can end the session at any time by closing the app.
Before a session
- Close anything private: banking sites, personal documents, messages.
- Back up anything important if you can. I’ll be careful, but computers can surprise anyone.
Think you’ve been scammed?
Hang up or disconnect right away, then open a ticket and I’ll help you check your computer and accounts. In the U.S. you can also report it at reportfraud.ftc.gov, and call your bank immediately if you shared card or account details.
